like you would with a hotter bulb. i mean “”amp”" your grow by having to add more things too one particular room for them to be “”healthier”". you HAVE to have a ballast wich creates allot of heat, same with the bulbs. making you have to vent them through either a wall or a window, either way your increasing your risk of detection. when i grow if my grow room is too warm ( my closet) i use a fan in the door leading too it and i open the window im my room wich allways kept my grow room at 75 80 Df

i love my t5 setup for these reasons. one, they are ALLOT cheaper to run than an H.I.D setup/ HPS setup. 2, the fatc that i dont grow for selling purposess, just for personal use. 3, is that they still produce the same quality nug, but yes at a lower weight because they dont have the output of conventional lights. 4, you dont have to “”amp”" up your grow as much as

t5s are supurb for veg and flowering?? i disagree. hid’s will DESTROY!!!!! t5′s all day long…….do a side by side with a 600 watt hid and 8 t5,s.. the 600 watt hid will grow bigger plants faster. another 140 watts and you got 600?? why not just run a hid lamp, the heat is not that bad, if you put a little fan by the ballast and use a hood with ducting, its acually quite cool.ive been using t5′s for 2 years now and ive had it!! they suck. the bulbs burn out,and needs to be too close to plants.

Anyone foolish enough to think HD flurs are comparable deserves a weak harvest. Not only more lumens and the correct spectrum but way longer bulb life. they still get very warm but nothing near an HID! I use these for cuttings and M’s with some 400′s on movers. Have never tried to bloom . Badmf

    Nice

lumens at 12″ is 3300 foot-candles. at 6″ it will be roughly 13,200, and at 3″ it’ll be 52,800. The light will also be quite a bit more even than an HID – especially with a poor reflector.

silly dog…without proper reflectors, you lose tonnes of light. two home de pot luminaires do not equal one bad boy. still, bad boy can still be improved upon.

    red bulbs ftw.

Just go to home depot get two big 6 bulb t5 lights for the price of one of those lights $ 79.00 each

2 switches allows you to veg under 4 bulbs= 200+ watts. You can start a bunch of small plants/clones under it. Pick out the traits you like then at bloom fill all 8, alternating bulbs. Listen to his comments from the blend in the middle using Quantum Grow bulbs on one side Bloom on the other. So imagine that throughout. I am now eperimenting with aquarium bulbs which are much moe intense

    Excellent point.

You should have measured the light candles about 2-3 inches away because thats how close you can get the light to your plants, unlike HID.

They aren’t on separate plugs. On the 8 tube model, there are 2 switches on the side of the unit. Each switch controls 4 tubes. So while the plants are small, you can turn on 4 tubes to save power, then when they get larger, you can turn on all 8 tubes.

  12. jjoswalt says:

Question: When you say 2 switches so you can have 4 on and 4 off, what do you mean exactly? Are they on separate plugs for timer use?
