I personally think the Republicans support Marijuana legalization more, but the Religious Right is powerful enough to oppose it.

Neither. It’s liberal people in city and county governments.
The Reps and Dems can’t back it on a large scale because they care only about money and voting blocs, not principles. I’m led to believe that these small advocacy groups that get the legislation passed are mostly liberals judging by the areas of Colorado and California where legalization is being pushed.
Republicans typically are. Ron Paul is for legalization of all drugs, and Bob Dole was for the decriminalization of Marijuana.

right now there are no talks in congress to legalize pot. so both parties are useless in the matter.
Both political Parties are for Big Government. Legalization of marijuana would REDUCE government, therefore, NEITHER Party is going to support it.
